Blarcreen House Information


Blarcreen is a Victorian granite farmhouse in the historic Ardchattan estate on the shores of Loch Etive, some 12 miles north of Oban. Offering 5 star luxury bed and breakfast accommodation in a traditional setting, in green fields overlooking the loch, sheltered by the hills which rise steeply behind, Blarcreen is the perfect place to get away from it all, yet within easy reach of Oban and Glencoe. You will receive a warm welcome and we will do all we can to make your stay special, starting with tea and home made cake when you arrive. We are a licensed guest house so you can relax by the wood burning stove in the sitting room with a whisky or enjoy a glass of wine in the garden, immersed in the tranquility of the long summer evenings. Walk along the shore, up into the hills or through the oak woods. Keep your eyes open and you may spot red deer, pine martens, otters, seals and sea eagles. Our three bedrooms offer beautiful views of Loch Etive and the surrounding hills. Choose a romantic huge four poster bed or a cosy double; enjoy a luxurious bath or an invigorating power shower, pamper yourself with our delicious Highland Soap Company toiletries and wrap up in a fluffy bath robe. All our rooms offer the following: Views of Loch Etive and the hills,Table and chairs by the window – read, work or just enjoy the view Flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD player, WiFi Fridge with complimentary bottled Scottish spring water and fresh milk; tea and coffee making facilities,Scottish biscuits, Green & Black’s mini chocolate bars En suite bathroom with power shower, Highland Soap Company toiletries; fluffy white towels and bath robes A full Scottish cooked breakfast is served in the guest dining room between 8 am and 9 am. If you need an early start we will lay out a buffet breakfast. Guests may check in between 4pm and 8pm. Please contact us if you will be arriving after 6pm to make sure we will be there to welcome you.

  • Road from Oban (12.0 miles)
    Head north from Oban on A85. At Connel turn right onto A828 and go over metal suspension bridge. Once over bridge turn first right signposted Bonawe. Continue on this single track road alongside the north shore of the loch for exactly 6.7 miles and you will arrive at Blarcreen on the right. Please note that if using a Satnav the post code is likely to take you to the wrong house!
  • Road from Fort William (40.0 miles)
    Take A828 south from Fort William. At Barcaldine turn left onto B845 signed Bonawe and drive along this single track road for 6 miles. At the end of the road turn left and follow sign '1/2 mile to Blarcreen'. You will arrive at Blarcreen on right. Please note that if using a Satnav the postcode is likely to take you to the wrong house.
