Built in 1834 by Master Mariner Thomas Geen, who was captain on the Bristol-built ship St Vincent, allegedly for his mistress Mary (further research underway). This stunning Georgian House is full of history, character and charm, together with the odd sightings of ghosts as well as free fibre optic broadband. Breakfast is available from 8.00–9.30 am. You can choose from a Full English, smoked salmon, as well as Fresh Fruit (consisting of Strawberries/Kiwi/Apple/Banana/Raspberries/Blue Berries/Grapes/Oranges as well as a large range of cereals. We always use fresh free-range white eggs (either Poached/Fried or Scrambled), locally produced/grown Bacon (smoked & unsmoked), Sausages, Tomatoes, Mushrooms as well as Heinz Beans & Yorkshire Black Pudding. We cater for gluten-free, vegetarian & vegan's so offer V/Vg Sausage & Bacon, G/F Sausage & Bread. All served with Fresh Orange/Apple Juice or Water as well as freshly made filter coffee or a range of teas. We provide Full Fat, Semi Skimmed, Soya, Oat, Almond & Coconut milk. Check out is between 10am & 10.30am. For those serious walkers and cyclists wishing to make an early start, we can provide a packed lunch instead of breakfast if you prefer or as an extra (£7pp), which consists of a sandwich/bap or salad, carton of juice (orange/apple/blackcurrent juice, fruit (banana/apple), packet of crisps, cakes & biscuits. Spend your days exploring the local areas such as Valley of the Rocks, Watersmeet, Lynmouth/Lynton using the Cliff Railway or walk down to Lynmouth & get the Cliff Railway back up as rather a hard walk back up to Lynton or visit further afield like Clovelly, Ilfracombe & Exmoor National Park & beautiful surrounding areas.

Accessibility

St. Vincent House has three steps to the front door with a handrail. A ground floor bedroom is available. Assistance will be provided whenever possible.

Directions

  • Road from Via Taunton J 25 of M5 (41.0 miles)
    From Taunton follow the directions for Minehead and then continue on via Porlock, up Porlock Hill across the hills (wonderful views of the Bristol Channel across to Wales). Travel onwards on the A39 down Countisbury Hill into Lynmouth. Follow the road up a very steep hill to a sharp right turn which will take you into Lynton. We are above the car park opposite Lynton Primary School and next to the Museum.
  • Road from Via Tiverton J 27 of M5 (45.0 miles)
    Exit at junction 27 of M5. Take the A361 (Signposted Barnstaple) to South Molton and then join the B3227 sign posted Simonsbath. Then at Blackmoor Gate, take the A399, which becomes the A39, following signs to Lynton. The road forks right, allowing you to enter the town via castle hill into the car park on the left. St. Vincent House is in Market Street, next to the museum and opposite the Primary School.
  • Bus from Barnstaple (20.0 miles)
    Take the train to Barnstaple. There are buses from Monday to Saturday and times can be found on the Traveline South West website. There are also taxis available from Barnstaple to Lynton.
  • Road from Via Bridgewater J 23 of M5 (43.0 miles)
    From Bridgewater follow the directions for Minehead and then continue on via Porlock, up Porlock Hill across the hills (wonderful views of the Bristol Channel across to Wales).
