Castle Lodge Guesthouse Information


Situated just a few minutes from the historic Carisbrooke Castle with it's panoramic views over Newport and the surrounding countryside. Only 5 mins walk to the local village, convenience store, post office, pubs with great food and a fabulous Italian restaurant. 10-15 mins stroll into Newport town centre, Good central location for rambling, walking and cycling around the Island . All beaches within 20-30 mins drive Castle Lodge currently has 6 rooms to let in total. An interconnecting family suite, doubles and twin rooms. Geographically located in the centre of the Island, Newport is its principal town and main shopping centre. Excellent roads and bus services make it easy to reach from anywhere on the Island and the Southern Vectis bus terminus is right in the centre of town. Enjoy browsing in the major chain stores or the many individual and intriguing little shops to be found in the lanes leading off the High Street and two main squares. Newport has two elegant squares and many fine town houses date from Georgian and early Victorian times.. Historic buildings have been restored to provide the tiny Apollo Theatre in Pyle Street and the Quay Arts Centre, housed in former warehouses, on the western bank of the river, where you will find pubs, sports facilities and a cycle way to Cowes. Leisure sports are available at Seaclose Park and at the nearby Mountbatten Centre, a modern complex with indoor swimming pool, theatre and adjoining Arboretum. The town center has a variety of cafe, bars , restaurants and night life to suit all ages. There is a multiplex cinema showing all the latest movies, seven days a week. Newport holds a market every Tuesday along with a local farmers market on a Friday, both held in and around St Thomas's square.

  • Boat from Yarmouth (12.0 miles)
    Exiting Yarmouth take the A3054 sign post for Newport. At the Forest rd traffic signals turn right for Gunville and Carisbrooke. At the roundabout turn left into Carisbrooke village , through Carisbrooke high street across the next two mini roundabouts, when at the next traffic signals turn sharp right into Castle rd, also sign posted for the IW Society for the blind.Castle rd is a one way street.
  • Boat from East Cowes (6.0 miles)
    Take the A3021 to Whippingham roundabout,then the A3054 to Newport. Follow signs for town centre and Carisbooke. At Carisbrooke road take the left exit at traffic signals sigh posted for the IW society for the blind.
  • Boat from Fishbourne (7.0 miles)
    Exit from Fishbourne lane turning right onto the A3054 to Newport. At Newport follow signs for town centre and Carisbrooke. At Carisbrooke road take the left exit at traffic signals sign posted IW Society for the blind.
  • Bus from Newport bus station (1.0 miles)
    Exit Newport bus station turn left. walk past McDonalds, walk past scarrots lane , then take the 1st road on left. Pyle street. Walk to very top then cross over at the traffic signals. Cary on ahead crossing Drillhall road.. This is Carisbrooke mall walk ahead untill the next traffic signals, cross over both, this is the entrance to Castle rd. We are at the top on right habd side.
