Ancient Shipbrokers Information

Description

The Ancient Shipbrokers sits in the centre of the lovely historic village of Pentewan over- looking the beautiful fresh water harbour and one of the best sandy beaches in Cornwall . Please note that we are in an elevated position and walking to the amenities in our little village will involve some hills and steps. There are 3 good choices of places to eat right here in the village and many more close-by. The Ship Inn is a traditional coastal pub with a beer garden. The Walk in the Woods is a Free House , whilst the newest restaurant right on the beach, The Hub Box, specialises in healthy burgers and light bites. All are a short stroll away. Once the home of the Shipbroker who traded cargoes such as grain, timber, and china clay , the house has a lot of history and has been decorated tastefully with colour and imagination to give a warm welcome. Free parking is available onsite. Some guests prefer to use the village car park (50m) where charges are very reasonable. Help with luggage is part of our welcome.FREE wireless connection is provided in all bedrooms. We have ample space for storing bicycles, surf boards and wet-suits. Wake to the morning song of sea birds, ducks, swans. and herons flying past. A large area is given over to wild flowers and trees which supports natural wildliffe. Picnic benches in the private guest garden can be used for picnics or ordering takeaway food. Wine glasses are provide in the rooms and we will chill wine for you. The view from the Dining Room is spectacular, looking out across Pentewan Harbour and the beach ,providing the perfect compliment to our delicious AA Silver home- cooked breakfasts. If you feel like a lazy day why not just sit and relax in our pretty garden or on the sun deck whilst you decide what to do? Night time brings different delights, especially when the moon is shining across the sea or the lights from fishing boats can be seen bobbing up and down in the bay.

Accessibility

Ancient Shipbrokers is situated in an elevated position though it is central to Pentewan village. There are 3 entrances to the property , all of which involve steps or a hill. The climb is definately worth it for the views and the secluded privacy, but may prove challenging for some people with mobility issues. There is a hand rail by the granite steps at the entrance to the property and further on at the steps into the Guest House. Of the three entrances to the property one is suitable for pushchairs and bicycles, being a sloping path that takes the longer route through the garden. The quicker routes involve a few steps and winding paths. Pentewan village comprises a valley with steep cliffs by the sea. Most houses are built on the hillsides but this excludes the pubs , shops and village Square which sit right at the bottom at sea level. The steepness contributes to the beauty of the village and we are noted as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty . We are also a Conservation Area.
