Hedley Hall Cottages were awarded an Enjoy England 5 star Gold for the self catering accommodation. Hedley Hall Country Cottages, provides a tranquil refuge from the stresses of the outside world, our aim is to make your stay as comfortable as possible, explore the beautiful counties of Durham and Northumberland and discover the culture of the cities of Newcastle Upon Tyne and Durham. Locally are the historic Beamish Museum, Tanfield Steam Railway and Gibside Chapel and we are only a short journey to the Metro Centre, Newcastle city centre, Chester Le Street and Gateshead. Our superb cottages are perfect for family holidays, as our grounds are safe and privet. All of our beautiful self catering holiday cottages have been designed with your comfort and tranquillity in mind. We invite you to discover the treasures and delights of the North East of England from the splendid comfort of our luxury award winning accommodation Hedley Hall Cottages were designed with accessibility for guests with disabilities in mind, so their family, friends and carers can enjoy a great holiday or short break together Please note that pets are not allowed, except guide dogs There is electric gates as you enter the private drive, please note there is a £30 refundable charge for the access key.

Accessibility

Hedley Hall Cottages were designed with accessibility for guests with disabilities in mind, so their family and friends can enjoy a great holiday or short break together. There are four cottages available, each accredited with the accessible scheme award, Mobility-3, Hearing-1 & Visual-1. Ground floor level throughout with open plan living/dining/kitchen area provides space for wheelchairs to manoeuvre. Wooden floors throughout inside. All windows where possible have been lowered. We also have a mobile hoist on site available for guests with limited mobility and access to a wide range of equipment available for hire. Information is provided in each cottage regarding local services including medical services. Accessible level entry shower room with fixed shower stool and shower chair offering right and left transfer. 2 double bedrooms with zip and link beds suitable for wheelchair users. 1200mm turning space and unobstructed transfer space to bed on left or right side of 900mm

Directions

  • Road from FROM THE NORTH A1 (5.0 miles)
    leave the A1 at junction A692 signposted to Consett and follow this road for 2½ miles to Sunniside. Continue on to the third set of traffic lights where you should turn left on to the A6076 towards Stanley. Drive for ¼ mile then turn left just on the right hand bend and on to Birkland Lane. Continue for 1 mile to the crossroads turn right on to Birkhead Lane. Pass Birkhead Nursery on your right continue for ¼ mile. Turn left at the sign for Hedley Hall Bed and Breakfast and Country Cottages
  • Road from FROM THE SOUTH A1 (5.0 miles)
    Leave A1 signposted Team Valley Retail World. At the roundabout take the first exit signposted Lamesley. Follow the road to a mini roundabout turn right on to Haggs Lane. Continue up the road for 1 mile passing Silver Hills Nursery on your left. Follow the road over the crossroad take the next left signposted for Birkheads Secret Garden. Continue to the next crossroads go straight over. Pass Birkhead Nursery on your right continue for ¼ mile.Turn left at the sign for Hedley Hall Bed & Breakfast
